Jayeel Cornelio is Associate Professor and the Director of the Development Studies Program at the Ateneo de Manila University. He is also an associate editor of the journal, Social Sciences and Mission (published by Brill). A sociologist of religion, Dr. Cornelio's scholarly writings have appeared in leading journals including Concilium, Social Compass, and Religion, State and Society. His monograph, Being Catholic in the Contemporary Philippines: Young People Reinterpreting Religion, has been featured in a book symposium by the Journal of World Christianity. For his scholarship, he received the 2015 Virginia A. Miralao Excellence in Research Award from the Philippine Social Science Council and the 2017 Outstanding Young Scientist Award from the National Academy of Science and Technology. With Jose Mario Francisco, he is currently completing a monograph on popular religion.
